Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:Rfp)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. Vbbanaz05 (talk) 20:52, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Under attack from IP vandals BlameRuiner (talk) 21:57, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary pending changes: Persistent vandalism. Leonidlednev (TCL) 22:16, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent disruptive editing from unregistered user, unreliable sources (incl. AI and google search result pages) and failed verification Hi! (talk) 22:28, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – ongoing vandalism by (same?) IP editor(s) for a few weeks. 10mmsocket (talk) 22:33, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: Edit warring, 3RR broken. Ysys9 (talk) 23:09, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – It's for a legal system. Gladcape2013 (talk) 23:09, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent disruptive editing by IPs and new users. Johnj1995 (talk) 00:24, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Good day! I am writing to request protection or semi-protection of the Rice and peas page. I am not the creator of the page, but I am a contributor who has invested a lot of time and effort to improve the page. Almost all of the page was written by me, and almost all of the images were added by me, most of which are my personal photos. However, the following users: 2601:147:4700:2000:418A:557A:92B3:8437 and 68.33.255.195, who I believe to be the same user, affiliated with the Rice and beans page has been deliberately removing info. I have a background in Caribbean Studies, History and Food & Nutrition, and the dish concerns my country/region, and history. I have researched the subject thoroughly, and have contributed personal pics for illustrations and clarity, and I have made sure to be inclusive of all variations I have direct knowledge about. There are differences between "rice and beans" and " rice and peas" dishes, but the aforementioned user seems to be unaware of this, and for unknown reasons have been constantly removing a section of the "rice and peas" page which details the history of variations in Central America. I would like to complete editing the page, but I am discouraged by the constant attack from the said user(s). On this premise, I am asking for assistance. Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. 148.76.246.171 (talk) 02:02, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Already protected by administrator Materialscientist. 148.76.246.171 (talk) 02:09, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – IP that previously edit-warred on the page has returned to restore the same disruptive edits. Armegon (talk) 02:20, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Courcelles have not responded, please unprotect if reasonable. ミラへぜ (talk) (ping me!) 01:06, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@ミラへぜ This page is covered under WP:CT/IPA, so you should follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Contentious topics#Appeals and amendments. --Ahecht (TALK

Not unprotected per above. Daniel Case (talk) 20:40, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Move protection was never really needed because there is no history of bad moves. Unprotection is needed because the page should be (uncontroversially) moved to match the sentence case of the other Merseyrail/Merseytravel and also to follow how Transport for London underground and overground lines are named. 10mmsocket (talk) 11:10, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

The R179s are numbered 3010–3327. Cars numbered 3010–3049 and 3238–3327 are configured into five-car sets, comprising 130 cars, which are assigned to the A and Rockaway Park Shuttle and are based out of Pitkin Yard. Cars numbered 3050–3237 are configured into four-car sets, comprising 188 cars; these are split between the J and Z (based out of East New York Yard) and the C (based out of 207th Street Yard). The order replaced all remaining R32s and R42s, which dated to the 1960s and early 1970s.[1]: 11  The R179s were also the last subway car order to be built by Bombardier Transportation prior to being acquired by Alstom in January 2021.[2] 148.76.246.47 (talk) 22:36, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
