[edit]

Since it looks like the Flying Spur and GT will share both the Continental name and architecture, I decided to proactively merge the articles as the "Bentley Continental". I put a bit of Flying Spur content in, but more will undoubtedly be coming soon. --SFoskett 19:22, Jan 24, 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, about that . . .

[edit]

People, are we sure that the Continental Flying Spur is a variant of the Continental GT???? That doesn't make sense + we should have all the generations of COntinental on one page. There should be one article: BENTLEY CONTINENTAL M'kay? --WikipedianD (talk) 18:09, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

LeBron James

[edit]

In one of the Nike "LeBrons" ads, a Continental GT is seen. Does LeBron James own this car? --Rigist 02:21, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Google it. --98.246.156.76 (talk) 05:36, 21 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hatchback?

[edit]

I saw the GT listed as a hatchback elsewher in Wikipedia - true?66.77.124.61 21:01, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe they were thinking of the Shooting Star version. Its a hatchback version of the GT, built in small numbers. I think an aftermarket coachbuilder makes them? --98.246.156.76 (talk) 05:38, 21 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

CGT with 610 hp?

[edit]

the latest magazine of AUTOMOBILE mentioned a 2009 update to the CGT with more modern but subtle styling and a 610-hp engine. anyone able to verify this? 66.32.211.60 23:30, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wistful Thinking?!

[edit]

As in - BS. The article says that a Flying Spur, which it in other places calls a re-badged tricked-out VW Phaeton, is the fastest 4-door saloon, and the Continental GT set a world record?!? With a 550 hp engine on a car with bad drag coefficients and a 2385 kg (5258 lb) curb weight?! STOCK?!?! Even if we kick cars like top-of-the-line production Japanese 4-door racecars and the BWM M3 by calling them compacts, there's still the BMW M5, with 505 bhp and a 1,830 kg (4,034 lb) curb weight, which is definitely not a compact and definitely faster, as it can hit 330 km/h WITHOUT driving on ice, without a world champion behind the wheel. No Brabus rockets, no one-time one-car tunings at the plant - just a typical conveyor-built car has been documented to beat it, people. Suggest heavy editing by someone knowledgeable in Bentleys (as in, what it can do, vs. the bs radar that is the limit of my abilities here). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aadieu (talkcontribs) 14:50, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

http://motorphilia.wordpress.com/2008/01/12/bentley-continental-gt-world-ice-speed-record-fastest-car-on-ice-321-kmh-206-mph/ Fastest car on ice. Mostly stock. Only changes were minor aero, wheels, and cold weather modifications. Also: Completely insane. ... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.16.229.32 (talk) 16:39, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Pictures

[edit]

Is there any reason why none of the pictures are home market (IE UK) spec cars? alot of pages about british cars seem to have this problem (With some going as far as showing badge engineered equivalents). Is it really that difficult to find an RHD example?(86.31.188.36 (talk) 12:50, 16 August 2008 (UTC))[reply]

speed record

[edit]

wait the bentley didnt break the speed record for 205 mph in 2007, becasue the continental supersports isr was not even known about in 2007, it was broken in early 2011, according to car and driver magazine, and the bentley website. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.57.187.233 (talk) 01:44, 15 September 2011 (UTC) Forget about the speed limit....the gaping hole in the grill at the front for towing a broken down Bentley does nothing to inspire confidence....this might be ok on a Volkswagen but not on a bentley and its very ugly! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.70.45.58 (talk) 08:27, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Shooting Star

[edit]

Should this GT variant be mentioned in the article? Anyone else heard of these? --98.246.156.76 (talk) 05:36, 21 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article needs work

[edit]

Frankly, this article is a bit of a mess and could do with a refresh from top to bottom. I've updated a few things regarding structure but if anyone else has time to spare to improve it, feel free - a thank you from me in advance. -- Epistolarius (talk) 15:18, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Bentley Mulliner Bacalar

Something new for someone (with more Bentley understanding) to add: Business Insider article TimothyPilgrim (talk) 16:52, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Split proposed for Bentley Mulliner Bacalar

[edit]

It should be split into its own article. It is based on Bentley EXP 100 GT and not an derivative of Continental GT. Sharing platform[1] alone does not justify to be in the same page, otherwise Bentley Flying Spur would be in the same page as Continental GT (or for that matter, Rolls-Royce Dawn would be in the same page as Rolls-Royce Ghost or Rolls-Royce Wraith. - 205.189.94.8 (talk) 22:14, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Cleaning the page

[edit]

When I read this article, I found out that this article has everything (information that should be in various categories ) stuffed into just 3 articles so I arranged them .

I also found that some articles in the 3rd gen. had no data in them so please add some data to them and make this article look better. ගොඩය (talk) 11:00, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Слесарь механик (инженерия)

[edit]

Bentley continental GT top speed

[edit]

The 2022 Bentley Continental GT Speed can reach a top speed of 347 km/h (216 mph). This is slightly higher than the quoted top speed of 208 mph (335 km/h). Seth.soham05 (talk) 09:02, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
